Donut Fun Facts
The original name for a donut is, “Olykoek,” which means oily cake. Dutch settlers brought the recipe with them when they came to New York. The precursors to today’s donuts were enjoyed in ancient times in Greece and Rome. Strips of dough were fried, often in olive oil, then usually sprinkled with honey.
