First Impressions – What Not To Do
Can you think of five examples of what would leave a positive first impression?
Examples
- Plan transportation ahead of time.
- If attending an interview, research the company and have some knowledge about their workplace practices.
- Plan for and dress appropriately.
- Arrive on time or shortly beforehand.
- Offer a firm handshake.
- Maintain eye contact.
- Smile and be friendly.
- Be respectful to all staff.
- Remember names and use them in conversation.
- Do not be negative about your previous employment or anything else.
- Be confident, but not arrogant.
- Show a genuine interest in what they have to say.
